I have always been inclined to create.  In my twenties, I practiced woodcarving.  My career focused on constructing houses as a licensed builder and as a software engineer creating software applications.  When I retired, I began focusing on drawing and painting.

In 2013, I received an Associate of Fine Arts degree from Schoolcraft College.  In 2015, I realized that I was not able to create the art I wanted to because of a lack of certain art skills.  At that point, I started to analyze what skills I needed to perfect.  I began by focusing on drawing.  Then I focused on linear perspective.  After learning linear perspective, I have been training in what is sometimes called classical training.  It began with learning to train my eyes to see better using a method called “sight-sized drawing” (see the photo of the drawing of the feet).  At the conclusion of my training, I will be able to oil paint using the methods of the old masters.
