Speaker Lindy Shewbridge
Lindy is a well-known muralist in Detroit and she will talk about all the planning and preparation that goes into painting such large artworks. She has murals at Brooklyn Street Local and at the Eastern Market and Murals in the Market. Lindy has shown in exhibitions at MOCAD; Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Public Pool, and Cranbrook Art Museum. She is also an alumni of Red Bull House of Art studio.

The History of Techniques that Make Today’s Art Possible
Have you ever wondered what the Impressionists got from Japanese prints?
Have you ever wondered about the legal definition of what makes something “art” and what lawsuit “first defined what art is?”
Have you ever wondered who invented the use of soft edges to produce an “ethereal” effect in art?
These and many other questions will be answered in this presentation.
Fred will:
- Begin with early Christian art (200AD) through today’s art.
- Discuss major techniques that changed art history.
- Discuss how these techniques created various new movements in art history.

Speaker Wendy Evans
Wiendy will present a romantic talk for Valentine’s Day about “Claudel and Rodin’s love affair”. Camille Claudel was a 19-year-old sculptor when she met the great master Rodin. She became Rodin’s muse and his mistress. They sculpted together for the next 10 years. Each artist’s work was influenced by the passion of their relationship.

“Frank Gehry – Architect” – His father thought Frank was a dreamer who would never amount to anything. It took till age 68 for Gehry to rocket to fame with the Getty Museum in Bilbao, Spain. He is known for his use of stainless steel and corrugated metal.
