Spring and Summer Exhibits
The Farmington Art Foundation (FAF) presents two large exhibits for their membership every spring and summer. Modest entry fees are charged to the exhibiting members to cover expenses for each exhibit. The artwork in each show is accepted with some discretionary criteria employed by the Exhibit Committee. There is a large committee which coordinates this event, allowing for numerous opportunities for the membership to volunteer their time to help make it a success.
This Spring Exhibit was held March 30- April 1 at the Costick Center. It began with fourth graders from the Farmington schools coming to view the artwork throughout the day Thursday. The opening reception was Thurs 4:30 – 6:00 with light refreshments. Friday evening an awards ceremony was held to honor the juried winners who are members of the FAF, Senior painters, as well as others receiving awards from the Farmington Arts Council. Saturday the exhibit was open until 5:00 p.m. All the artwork was available for sale unless otherwise noted on the piece.
FAF members can enter artwork in either the open section, juried section, or the unframed section. Work entered into the juried section is critiqued by an external juror. There are first through fourth place and honorable mention awards. Awards for the first through fourth placement are monetary awards and the honorable mention awards are gift certificates donated by local businesses.
The Summer Exhibit is also a members only show and sale of artwork. This exhibit is part of the Farmington Founders Festival and takes place in the middle of July. It is a three day event, it is non-juried. The Spring and Summer Exhibits are great opportunities to exhibit, sell artwork, and get to know your fellow FAF members.
